Scan to Tag: Add Voters to a Tag with a Barcode Scanner

Scan to Tag adds an existing campaign tag to a voter when you scan or paste their voter ID. Use it to process a stack of records with voter-ID barcodes without opening each voter profile.

You need an existing tag, loaded voter data, and a barcode scanner that enters text into a web form. You can also paste a complete ID. The barcode must contain a supported voter ID.

How to use it

1. Sign in to the correct campaign and open Scan to Tag.
2. Under Select a Tag, search for and select a tag your campaign created. Create the tag on the Tags page first if needed.
3. Click Scan Voter ID, then scan the barcode or paste the complete ID. Vottiv processes the value automatically; there is no separate submit button.
4. Check the Tag added message and voter name before scanning the next record. The input clears, and the selected tag stays in place.

The field accepts a Vottiv ID, RNC ID (Provider ID), State Voter ID, or Jurisdiction Voter ID. Paste the whole value at once when entering an ID without a scanner.

Check the results

Recent Scans shows the last five successful scans in your current session, including the voter name and tag. Scanning a voter who already has that tag does not create a duplicate assignment.

If you see Voter not found, check the ID and the selected campaign. Scan to Tag only searches voter records your campaign can access and does not create a new voter. If you see Tag not found, select a tag owned by your campaign.
