How to Create and Launch a Poll in Vottiv

Vottiv Polling allows your campaign to run professional, statistically valid voter polls directly from your Vottiv account. This guide walks you through how polling works and how to create, launch, and review a poll.

Why Polling Matters

Polling helps campaigns understand what voters are thinking so you can make informed strategic decisions. By gathering real feedback on priorities, preferences, and local issues, you can adjust messaging and outreach to increase your overall impact on Election Day.

Accessing the Polling Dashboard

From your account home, navigate to the left-hand menu and select Polling.
On this page, you’ll find three sections:

• Create a Poll

• Active Polls

• Archived Polls

Creating a New Poll

1. Start the Poll

Click Create Poll and enter the basic details, including your poll name.
Example: Utah County Traffic Priorities

2. Add Questions

You can:

• Select an existing survey, or

• Use AI to generate questions.

When using AI, Vottiv reviews your poll description and creates AAPOR-compliant, neutral questions.
If the question isn’t quite right, you can:

• Adjust your description

• Regenerate the question

• Manually edit the wording

3. Select Your Voter Group

Choose an existing voter group from your account.
Vottiv will display:

• Total voters in the group

• Total voters with cell phones

• Percentage of reachable voters

This helps you understand the potential size and quality of your sample.

4. Set Your Sample Size

Use the sample slider to choose what percentage of the group you want to contact.

As you adjust the sample size, Vottiv automatically shows:

• Estimated margin of error

• Estimated cost

• Expected response count

For example, a 25% sample might produce a margin of error around ±2%.

5. Review & Confirm

Before launching, review:

• Poll name

• Selected group

• Sample percentage

• Cost

• SMS message preview

You can regenerate the SMS message if needed.

6. Payment & Launch

Choose a payment method:

• Campaign credits

• Credit card

After payment is confirmed, your poll will launch immediately.

What Voters See

Voters receive a single SMS with a link to the poll.
Once they tap the link, they can answer your question(s) in seconds—no login or app required.

After Launch

Once live, your poll will appear under Active Polls, where you can track:

• Response counts

• Weighted results

• Overall performance

Archived polls remain accessible for future reference.
